Welcome to the VaultAI Support Center. Since VaultAI operates 100% on-device inside Google Chrome to protect your privacy, most issues are related to local browser flag configurations.

Step 1: Browser Verification

VaultAI utilizes built-in Prompt APIs that require Google Chrome. Are you running the VaultAI extension inside the Google Chrome browser?

Google Chrome Required

VaultAI requires Google Chrome version 127 or higher. Other browsers (such as Safari, Firefox, or older Edge releases) do not support the local Prompt API. Please install Chrome and run VaultAI inside it.

Step 2: Experimental Chrome Flags

Chrome on-device AI requires experimental configurations. Have you enabled both flags in chrome://flags?

  • AI Model Storage: Set to Enabled BypassPerfRequirement
  • Prompt API for Gemini Nano: Set to Enabled

How to Enable Flags:

1. Open a new tab in Chrome and navigate to: chrome://flags
2. Search for "AI Model Storage" and select Enabled BypassPerfRequirement.
3. Search for "Prompt API for Gemini Nano" and select Enabled.

Step 3: Browser Relaunch

Did you completely restart or relaunch Google Chrome after configuring the experimental flags?

Relaunch Required

Closing a tab does not apply experimental flags. You must completely relaunch Chrome. Click the blue Relaunch button at the bottom-right of the chrome://flags page to ensure changes take effect.

Step 4: PDF / Document Type

Is your PDF file text-based (meaning you can select and highlight text inside it) rather than a scanned image-only PDF?

Scanned PDFs & OCR Limitation

VaultAI processes all data locally to protect privacy and does not run remote cloud OCR. Scanned paper, photographs, or image-only documents cannot be summarized. Please convert your file to text or copy-paste text contents directly.
